Pyrenees Génétique Bovins is an association which gathers the associations of breeders, dairy and beef cattle, in the departments of Ariège, Haute-Garonne and Hautes-Pyrénées.
The goal of this association and the stockbreeders who adhere to it through their association is to ensure the promotion of the bovine genetics of their herd either in France, or in Spain in particular in the transborder areas.
Since 1990, exchanges made it possible to weave very close links between breeders on the two sides of the border and a relation of confidence which led to the installation of actions of partnership between Pyrénées Génétique Bovins and several Associations of Spanish stockbreeders.
Since 1993, these actions are the subject of European financings (INTERREG) and since January 1, 2002 a new program was approved with a complementary financing of the Regional Council of the Midy-Pyrénées which changes the rate of assistance to 80% of the subsidisable expenditure.
This new file rests on a very narrow partnership with Coopérativa Agropecuaria del SOBRARBE of AINSA (ARAGON) and Centro Tecnologico de la Industria Carnica of LOGROÑO (RIOJA).
This partnership must make it possible the Co-operative to seek with the assistance of Pyrénées Génétique Bovins the best breedcrossings to be carried out by taking of account the production of young beef, the difficult conditions of medium and the traditional farming systems of the SOBRARBE.
It must also with CTIC of RIOJA seek it a better adaptation to the market thanks to analyses and studies of characterization of traced products.
